In addition to the money raised through CHOKO for World Vision, a number of Cholsey residents sponsored children through World Vision. These children lived in Kodumela and as part of the CHOKO trips, the individual sponsored were lucky enough to visit their sponsored children and their families.

Supported by members of World Vision South Africa, they accompanied the sponsors to their sponsored child’s house and were able to spend time with them. These relations developed over a number of years through letters, cards and gifts and it was humbling to meet the children and families face to face.

At the time our focused moved from Kodumela to Ntwetwe, many of the sponsored children were reaching adulthood and the sponsorships ended. At this point as a group, CHOKO decided to continue to sponsor a child.  This child is Jonathan.

We first began sponsoring Jonathan in 2015, and over the past 9 years have watched him grow, develop and enjoyed exchanging correspondence with him.

We will continue to sponsor and communicate with Jonathan until he reaches the age of 18.
