Big thanks to Claire from Go M.A.D for the following update.
Hi Choko Team,
We are very grateful to Choko for all of their support. Mariam, the midwife at Buturugi, has had a very positive impact at the Health Dispensary. Over the past month, she has helped 28 women give birth. This is typical of the average month, with Mariam assisting between 25-35 mothers in delivery. She has also put on antenatal classes and workshops for women’s health. She is very well regarded in the community and women have confidence to give birth during the night at the health centre. She has made a huge difference at Butuguri and there have been no fatalities since she started work there.
The second phase of work on the school roof at Mkirira Primary School hasn’t started yet. The District Government has been delayed in constructing the walls on the new classroom so we have been unable to start the roof. We are hopeful that this work will start in the summer and will keep you updated.
Thank you and Best wishes,
Claire
