May Day / VE Day Celebration

Despite the overcast weather, this year’s May Day celebration in Cholsey was bursting with energy, colour, and community spirit — and CHOKO was proud to be right at the heart of it.

The community used the opportunity to also hold VE Day celebrations, which helped aid the festivities.

Once again we hosted a vibrant Colour Run and ran a lively bar throughout the day, all in support of Go MAD in Tanzania, our chosen charity that works with rural communities in Tanzania to improve health, education, and access to clean water.

The Colour Run proved to be a highlight of the event — a family-friendly dash around a pre-marked course where runners of all ages were showered with bright powder paints. Laughter ensued as participants emerged at the finish line covered in a rainbow of colour, before the final colour splash in the middle of the field – all having had a blast for a great cause.

Meanwhile, our CHOKO Bar kept the good times flowing, serving up both soft drinks and alcoholic beverages including a couple of barrels from Cholsey’s very own Amwell Springs Brewery Co. who CHOKO regularly partner with throughout the year.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of our volunteers, the support of the local community, and the generosity of everyone who donated or took part, we raised valuable funds for Go MAD in Tanzania. Every penny raised helps this incredible charity continue its life-changing work.

We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us on May Day — your support means the world. See you next time for more fun, colour, and community fundraising!
